Daniel Levin
(a.k.a. Mr. Lizard Man) was born in Albuquerque New Mexico. As a youth,
Dan tirelessly scoured the desert, searching for reptiles and alien
spacecraft. Although he didn't ever 'ride the snake' (or take mescaline at
13 for that sake), it didn't take long for Dan to find his calling in
music.
It began in high school. A fellow student,
Devon Kurzweil, asked Dan to become the vocalist for his new group,
Retrospect. The chemistry was automatic. By the time they had finished
high school, they had already played to a sold-out Gothic Theatre, Azatlan
Theatre, and were packing the house at the Mecury Café. They even used to
mosh in those days...Dan soon headed off to sunny L.A., and the two parted
ways. But the mountains prevailed and not before long, Devon and Dan
reunited while attending college at CU Boulder.
The band, The Bridge, enjoyed local
success, but later disbanded years later after graduation. However, the
two did leave their mark at famous holes such as Tulagi, The Sink and
Taylors (don't look for them-they're not there...well one of them is still
there, I think.) A few years later, Dan and Devon collaborated once again,
this time in a group called 'Air Tight Experiment,' a radio project that
reached top 20 lists in 19 different markets, and even tied for 19th on
the CMJ top 200 playlist in 2003. When Devon called Dan about Fina Dupa,
was there ever any question? Mr. Lizard Man says "the future of rock
n' roll is new wave...nuueewww wwaaavvvee!" |
